Sculptra? Reviews, Price in Singapore (2022)

sculptra singapore

Sculptra is a natural collagen stimulator dermal filler available in Singapore.

But is it suitable for everyone?

I review the pros and cons as well as the price of Sculptra dermal filler in Singapore.

What is Sculptra?

Sculptra is a type of dermal filler that contains poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA). Sculptra works to restore facial volume by stimulating your body to produce new collagen.

It is different from conventional hyaluronic acid fillers that volumise sunken faces and fill wrinkles. Sculptra has the additional ability to promote collagen production over time.

How does Sculptra work?

Sculptra works by restoring facial volume to deep facial lines, nasolabial folds and marionette lines.

It was first US FDA approved in 2004 to treat facial fat loss (lipoatrophy) in HIV patients.

In 2009, Sculptra was US FDA approved to treat deep facial wrinkles and folds for people with healthy immune systems.

Sculptra has some off-label uses which include:

  • non-surgical buttock lift
  • Cellulite reduction
  • Knee and elbow wrinkles

Review of Sculptra treatment in Singapore

Sculptra gives natural-looking results for most patients, especially when performed by a doctor who understands your skin and facial anatomy well.

For patients who are looking for facial volumization of large areas, Sculptra might be more cost-effective as the results last twice as long.

However, Sculptra is not suitable for everyone. Sculptra has its pros and cons.

A suitable candidate for Sculptra treatment is someone who is:

  • Available for multiple treatment sessions every 2-4 months
  • Willing to perform facial massage over the treated areas multiple times a day for the first few days to minimised formation of lumps
  • Patient enough to wait for gradual results
  • Financially able to pay for the higher total costs
  • Regularly undergoing hyaluronic acid filler treatments and is looking for a filler which is longer lasting.

In my practice, Sculptra is one of many types of dermal fillers that I use to achieve holistic facial rejuvenation for my patients. I usually use a combination of lasers, non-surgical energy based devices for skin tightening and dermal fillers (hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers and non-HA fillers).

How much does Sculptra injection treatment cost in Singapore?

Each Sculptra session typically costs about $1000 in Singapore. Prices may vary according to the severity of your facial fat/ volume loss. Total treatment cost may range from $1000 to $4000.

The cost/ price of Sculptra treatment is dependent on:

  • number of vials of Sculptra used
  • Number of areas treated
  • Experience and skill of the injector doctor

How often should I do Sculptra treatment?

Sculptra is designed to work gradually over a series of at least three treatments done every 2 to 4 months apart.

You may see immediate results straight after Sculptra injections. However, the best results take multiple sessions and improve over the course of several months as your body produces more collagen.

How long do the results of Sculptra last?

The results of Sculptra can last between 2 to 3 years on average. However, do note that individual results vary.

What are the risks and side-effects of Sculptra?

Sculptra is safe and effective when performed by an experienced expert injector in Singapore.

The most common side-effect of Sculptra is temporary pain, swelling and bruising at the injection sites.

It is also possible to get lumpiness under your skin.

For an exhaustive list of risks and side-effects of Sculptra, please speak to a qualified medical doctor.

Are there any post-treatment instructions after Sculptra?

After Sculptra injections, you are advised not to have any alcohol or exercise for the first 1 to 3 days to reduce the chances of bruising and swelling.

It is also essential for you to perform facial massage over the treatment areas multiple times a day to reduce the chances of forming lumps under your skin.

Compared to other dermal fillers, after Sculptra injection treatments, facial massage is encouraged rather than avoided.

Sculptra versus Juvederm Voluma filler

Sculptra is a natural collagen stimulator that works gradually as compared to Juvederm Voluma which is a hyaluronic acid filler that works immediately.

Sculptra’s effects can last 2-3 years while Juvederm Voluma’s results typically last 9 to 12 months. This means that Sculptra’s effects last twice as long as Juvederm Voluma.

Juvederm Voluma has an added advantage of being immediately dissolvable or reversible using hyalase (hyaluronidase).

Because of the advantage of being dissolvable, I usually suggest hyaluronic acid fillers for patients who are in their first few filler treatments. After having more experience with facial filler treatments, patients might then consider long-lasting fillers like Sculptra.

Total cost of Sculptra treatment can be $1000 to $4000 as compared to Juvederm which is $1000 to $3000.

Sculptra versus Radiesse filler

Sculptra and Radiesse are both non-hyaluronic acid fillers. Both cannot be dissolved readily and both last longer than the usual hyaluronic acid fillers (more than 12 months).

Sculptra requires a series of at least 3 treatment sessions whereas Radiesse is a 1 session treatment.

I prefer Radiesse for patients who are very busy and are looking for a 1 time treatment.

Total cost of Sculptra treatment can be $1000 to $4000 as compared to Radiesse which is $1000 to $3000.

Unsure if Sculptra is suitable for you?

It is best to speak to a trusted doctor to evaluate your needs and your treatment options.
