Did you know that your chin plays a significant role when it comes to facial attractiveness?

Most people who desire to have a better chin structure opt for surgical implants, which might be riskier and more costly. Little did they know that their chin shape, projection and contours can be improved through a simple, clinic-based and non-surgical chin filler treatment.

Originally, fillers were used to fill in lines and wrinkles, but thanks to innovative techniques, doctors now use fillers to enhance facial features.

What is Chin Filler?

Did you know that your chin plays a significant role when it comes to facial attractiveness?

Most people who desire to have a better chin structure opt for surgical implants, which might be riskier and more costly. Little did they know that their chin shape, projection and contours can be improved through a simple, clinic-based and non-surgical treatment.

Originally, fillers were used to fill in lines and wrinkles, but thanks to innovative techniques, doctors now use fillers to enhance facial features.

Are chin fillers permanent?

A filler treatment is temporary (lasts 9 to 12 months) or semi-permanent (lasts up to 2 years). However, it is recommended to opt for temporary fillers like hyaluronic acid fillers since they are reversible.

If the filler used is hyaluronic acid, your body eventually absorbs it, causing the chin to revert to its original appearance.

It is recommended to undergo regular injections if you want to maintain the enhanced chin.

What is the best filler for the chin?

The most common and safest type of chin filler in Singapore is hyaluronic acid fillers. A commonly used brands of hyaluronic acid filler is Stylage.

Hyaluronic acid fillers last from 9 months to 12 months. They are reversible within minutes if you wish to bring back your pre-treatment chin.

How long does chin filler last?

Hyaluronic acid fillers, like Stylage last between 9 to 15 months. Other types of chin filler are calcium hydroxyapatite fillers like Radiesse. This type of filler lasts between 12 to 24 months.

It is recommended to have touch-ups if you want to maintain the results.

How is Chin Filler performed?

Prior to treatment, we will apply topical anesthesia (numbing cream) for 15-20 minutes.

Subsequently, Dr Justin Boey, Medical Director, will perform the chin filler treatment using 1-3 injection points.

He will mould the fillers to achieve a natural-looking result.

After the treatment, we will apply an antibiotic cream to reduce chances of infection.

Is chin filler painful?

Most patients can tolerate treatment well. This is because we use topical numbing cream prior to the treatment.

Also, most dermal fillers contain lidocaine which reduces pain during and after injection.

You might feel mild discomfort of a needle prick when it enters your skin. It is tolerable, and no pain follows after that. That being said, most patients do not feel the pain of the needle because of the numbing cream.

Benefits of Chin Fillers

It is not uncommon to be unhappy sometimes with your facial features. With modern technology nowadays, it is possible to enhance facial features to achieve your sought-after look.

Chin filler treatment is a quick procedure with minimal downtime and visible results in 1 treatment session.

receding chin

Improve Small or Receded Chin

Chin fillers can help to improve the length and projection of your chin. This is beneficial for those who have a small or receded chin.

There are other reasons why people consider having their chin augmented besides wanting to look better.  This simple procedure can drastically transform your facial features and even make you look a lot younger.

cleft chin

Correct Cleft Chin

A cleft chin is a chin that has a dimple or a Y-shaped dimpling in the middle. This happens when the chin muscles are farther apart than normal, which causes the pulling of the skin in the chin area.

If you wish to treat your cleft chin, fillers can help you get rid of it. Hyaluronic acid is injected directly into the dimple to raise the skin in the depressed area, making it proportional to the rest of the facial skin.

V-Shape face of a woman

Achieve a V-Shape Face

The V-shaped face is a coveted look among women, especially in Asia. It is linked to feminity and youthfulness.

Fillers can help you achieve this look by sculpting the chin and making it look narrower. This treatment can provide support to your features and contour your chin –  making it appear more prominent or defined. To maintain results, it is recommended to have touch-up procedures as needed.

Chin Augmentation vs Chin Fillers

chin filler vs chin augmentation singapore

There are two types of chin augmentation: surgical and non-surgical (use of fillers). Both have their pros and cons.

A surgical chin augmentation procedure is best for patients who are looking for permanent chin augmentation. However, there are risks of surgery, risks of anesthesia, longer recovery time and higher costs.

On the other hand, chin fillers are temporary but have quick recovery time. This is best for people who cannot take the downtime of surgery and wish to have the option of a reversible procedure if they do not like the results.

Surgical chin augmentation requires anesthesia, hospitalisation, longer downtime and is only reversible through another surgery.

Chin fillers are quicker procedures, require less recovery time and can be reversed within minutes.

Chin Fillers Before and After

It’s best to consult an experienced doctor to determine what’s the best approach to achieve your desired results.

As a medical clinic in Singapore, we cannot show before and after results of chin filler treatments online. Our medical director, Dr Justin Boey, can discuss the expected results during an official medical consultation.

You can expect immediate results after the treatment. Your chin will appear sharper and more slender, which can improve your overall facial appearance.

Side Effects of Fillers for Chin

Most side effects of chin fillers are minor and temporary.

Just like any treatment that requires an injection, filler treatments can cause redness and swelling. This is normal and will usually subside after several hours. A cold compress can be applied to the area to help reduce the swelling. Other minor adverse effects are bruising and mild pain.

There are also some rare side effects such as lumpiness which may happen depending on the type of filler used. The lumpiness may be felt beneath the injection site when the filler doesn’t settle immediately.

Movement of the filler and infection are rare side effects you should also be aware of. This is why it’s crucial to have yourself treated in a reputable aesthetic clinic to reduce the risks of these side effects from happening.

To avoid any significant side effects, it is also worth knowing whether you really are the right candidate for a filler treatment or not.

Do not undergo a filler treatment if:

  • You are susceptible to scarring
  • You are suffering from a bleeding disorder
  • Have allergies with fillers
  • You have inflammation on your skin
  • You are under 18 years old, pregnant, or breastfeeding

FAQ

This procedure won’t, by any means, make your face look fake as long as it’s not overdone.

A skilled and experienced doctor will be able to determine how much filler it would take to achieve your desired chin but still keep it looking natural.

A short chin can give that impression of a round, broad, or square face. Adding volume and length to your chin can enhance the slimming effects and give you a longer, slimmer looking face.

Highly trained and skilled doctors will know how much filler you need to meet your expectations. A patient with a receded chin may require up to 3cc of fillers.

As for a patient who just needs a touch-up, 1cc of filler is enough. The amount will also depend on the targeted area.

It is not recommended to massage your chin after a filler treatment. This goes for all filler treatments as well. Fillers are moldable within the first hours until up to 2 days.

You can see visible results right after the treatment. Filler treatment immediately contours and enhances your chin.

Chin filler treatments using high-quality fillers will last longer. You may choose to have touch-ups every 12 months to maintain the results.
