How does Profhilo work?
Profhilo is the first BDDE-free injectable Hyaluronic Acid for hydrating skin and treating skin laxity.
With one of the highest concentrations of HA in the market (64mg/2cc), the stabilised HA lasts in the skin for about 28 days.
Profhilo works because of 2 types of hyaluronic acid: L-HA and H-HA.
L-HA as a hybrid complex is released slowly and hydrates your skin, providing the Hydro effect.
H-HA provides a stable HA architecture in the dermis that allows volumetric replacement, giving the Lift effect.
During this time, the slow release of HA kickstarts stimulation of 4 different types of collagen and elastin.
Histologically, the expression levels of type I and type III collagen and type IV and VII collagen in keratinocytes are increased.
Profhilo, Skin Booster, Rejuran: What’s the Difference?
Conventionally Hyaluronic Acid (HA) injections does one of the 2 things – Hydration or Volumisation.
Although Profhilo also contains HA it does a lot more in boosting and stimulating 4 types of collagen and elastin. This restores the overall integrity of the skin and achieve a lifting effect.
HA, as a skin booster is injected at multiple points under the skin to restore hydration and improve the elasticity of the skin at the injection site. However, this is not a frequently performed treatment as the associated downtime is not always socially acceptable.
HA, as a filler, as its name suggest fills up volume that we lose when we age. This can result in an instant lifting effect by boosting the volume lost. However there is no effect on the skin and does not improve the skin texture.

Profhilo Review: Effective, Safe and Minimally Invasive?

Collagen and elastin bioremodelling – the hybrid complex stimulate collagen and elastin at the different depths of the skin – the epidermis dermis and the superficial adipose layer. This is different from the other biostimulators in the market like Ellanse and Radiesse, which work by inducing a low grade inflammatory response in the body. As such, this poses a risk of forming granuloma.
Is there downtime for Profhilo treatment?
You may have a little swelling at the injection point right after the appointment, but these will subside within 24 hours given that it is spreads easily into the intracellular space.
Small bruises over the injection site can be easily concealed as large blood vessels are avoided with the specially designed BAP injection technique with fewer injection points (5 injection points per side of face).

Depending on your skin condition, more than 1 Profhilo treatment session might be needed to achieve desired results.
You might also require lasers and other injectable treatments for holistic improvements.
Can Profhilo be combined with Lasers or Ultherapy?
Yes, combining Profhilo and energy based devices like Lasers and Ultherapy improves skin pigmentation and texture to improve your skin synergistically.
Can Profhilo be combined with Botox/ Fillers?
Profhilo is an effective treatment on its own.
However, it does not treat all your problems. A combination with botox and HA fillers can achieve better results.
It will be best to consult your doctor to discuss your concerns.
Would you recommend Profhilo in treating skin laxity of the upper face?
The current injection technique developed is specifically for the lower face. Due to the nature of it being highly spreadable, the worry would be a spread of excessive amounts into the eyelids affecting its movements.
There is potential use of Profhilo to treat upper face laxity but until a more developed protocol is recommended, I would suggest other injectable treatments, like Rejuran and skin boosters, and energy devices like Ultherapy and Ultraformer 3 HIFU.
