How do you get rid of acne scars?

Tired of acne scars? You don’t have to live with it for the rest of your life. You can finally get rid of those pockmarks and enjoy the smooth, vibrant skin you deserve. You just need to find the perfect acne scar removal treatment for your condition.

About acne scars

Normally, acne will clear up without a trace. But when a person pops their pimples or in case of acne cysts, the tissues underneath the skin get damaged. Your body then produces collagens to try and repair it, but the results are often less than desirable.

The most common types of acne scars are:

  • Ice pick scars
  • Rolling scars
  • Boxcar scars
  • Keloid scars
  • Hyperpigmentation

The first three are similar in appearance with small depressions all over the skin. Keloid scars are raised and are hard to conceal, while hyperpigmentation is discolouration of the skin, which usually sorts itself out over time.

Each scar type should be treated differently, as some ways are more effective than others. To get desired results, you need a professional to examine it and point you in the right direction as to how you should treat it.

Getting rid of acne scars

For a lot of people, they choose to keep their scars because they remind them of a time when they did something worth telling. The only story acne scar tell is how your body managed to fight off tissue damage, and your skin is the battlefield, left pockmarked and a shadow of its former self.  It’s a battle a person would rather forget, which is why people are looking for ways to get their skin back and leave the past behind.  There are plenty of ways to get rid of acne scars. Here are some of the most popular ones:
  • Dermal fillers. For depressed acne scars like icepick scars, dermal fillers are a great option. In this treatment, a substance is injected directly to each pit to elevate its base to level with the skin’s surface. Depending on the severity of the acne scars, this procedure may take a while. This treatment requires you to come back every few months to maintain the results. The dermal fillers used in this procedure is a substance made from human or bovine collagen hyaluronic acid or fat transferred from your own body.
  • Home remedies. There are plenty of home remedies available for you to try. But one of the most popular solutions is using Apple Cider Vinegar. Here, you mix the vinegar with water and dab some on your scar. Leave it for a few minutes before rinsing it off with cold water. Another popular home remedy is using aloe vera. Using the gel found inside the leaves, massage the gel into the scars. Rinse it off after 30 minutes. Do this 2-3 times a day until you see results.
  • Excisions. Punch excisions is a literal scar removal treatment that involves cutting out the scars and suturing the resulting hole. The new scar is much smaller and will often heal and disappear on its own. However, microdermabrasion or any other resurfacing technique can help speed up the process of healing. It’s a quick, permanent way to ensure that there will be no marks left of your acne scars.
  • Lasers. Aso referred to as Laser Peeling, is a procedure that aims to stimulate collagen production underneath the skin’s surface while simultaneously removing the old skin cells on the surface. After the procedure, the skin will often have a smoother, more even appearance. Immediately after treatment, patients are required to care for the affected area by cleaning it and applying petroleum jelly to prevent scabs from forming. This procedure is effective but requires 10 to 21 days to fully heal.
  • Steroid injections. Keloid scars are one of the worst types of acne scars you can get. They can result in hundreds of tiny raised blemishes replacing your acne once it heals. Because of its nature, it’s hard to conceal with makeup, and are very noticeable. Steroid injections are the best solution for this type of acne scarring. Here, the steroids are injected directly into the keloids. It helps soften the tissues inside and flattening it in the process. Eventually, the keloids will flatten and will become unnoticeable over time.
