Facelifts are some of the preferred treatments for patients from Singapore who want to fix cosmetic issues caused by ageing. These common issues are droopy jowls, sagging faces and fat under the chin and around the neck.

While a facelift is an effective treatment for these issues, it’s important to familiarise yourself with the procedure before you give it a go.

What is a Facelift?

What is a Facelift?

The skin on the face and neck loses collagen and elastin as it ages – causing it to sag, stretch, and lose its ability to contract. With a poor diet, an unhealthy lifestyle, and personal habits, the appearance of the skin can worsen over time.

Sagging skin isn’t a new problem in the cosmetic world. Most clients struggle with wrinkled skin and want it fixed. A facelift can be an effective treatment for this issue.

Facelift in Singapore is practised in two ways, surgically and non-surgically. These treatment methods help repair the wrinkles and drooping skin of the face and neck. It also addresses damaged skin and muscle tissues that will eventually be restored, leading to plumper and younger-looking skin.

Benefits of Facelift Procedures

Facelifts provide several key benefits to patients looking to improve their appearance and restore confidence. These include:

  • Firmer, Tighter Skin: Lifting sagging skin reduces fine lines and wrinkles, giving you a smoother and healthier-looking complexion.
  • Defined Facial Contours: Surgical and non-surgical facelifts address loose skin around the cheeks, jawline, and neck for a more sculpted appearance.
  • Long-Lasting Results: Particularly for surgical facelifts, the effects can last for several years with proper aftercare.
  • Confidence Boost: Many patients feel significantly more confident and satisfied with their appearance after a facelift.

Costs of Facelift Procedures in Singapore

The cost of a facelift in Singapore depends on various factors, including the type of procedure chosen (surgical or non-surgical) and the complexity of the treatment. The actual price will also depend on the clinic or practitioner’s reputation and any additional fees (e.g., anaesthesia or consultation charges).

Surgical Facelift Costs

  • Traditional Facelift: Starts at $15,000
  • Deep Plane Facelift or Mid-Facelift: $20,000–$30,000
  • Mini Facelift or S-Lift: Starts at $5,000

Non-Surgical Facelift Costs

The prices for non-invasive procedures are lower, though costs vary based on the specific treatment and provider.

  • Ultherapy: From $2,000/session
  • Fillers (e.g., hyaluronic acid): $700–$1,000 per syringe, with most patients requiring 1–4 syringes per session
  • Botox: $12–$15 per unit or $450–$800 per treatment zone
  • HIFU, Threadlift, Micro-needling with Radiofrequency, and Thermage range between $800–$5,000 per session.

It’s always best to consult directly with an aesthetic professional or clinic to get an accurate quote tailored to your needs.

Types of Facelift Procedures in Singapore

A facelift, medically known as a rhytidectomy, is a cosmetic surgical procedure designed to rejuvenate the face by addressing visible signs of ageing. This procedure targets common concerns like sagging jowls, loose skin around the jawline, wrinkles and creases near the mouth and nose.

Surgical Facelift

Certified Medical Specialists trained in and experienced with facial incisions perform surgical facelifts in Singapore. This procedure usually takes 3 to 4 hours to complete and involves making an incision on your skin.

Note: Sozo Aesthetic Clinic does not offer Surgical Facelifts. We offer Non-Surgical Facelifts.

1. Traditional Facelift

A traditional facelift involves incisions around the hairline, temples and behind the ears to lift and tighten the underlying facial muscles and tissues. Excess skin is removed, and the remaining skin is repositioned for a smoother, more youthful appearance. This approach addresses the midface, jawline and neck sagging for long-lasting results.

2. Deep Plane Facelift

A deep plane facelift repositions the deeper layers of facial muscles and tissues for a more rejuvenated look. This technique offers long-lasting results by addressing the root causes of severe facial sagging, particularly for the midface, nasolabial folds and jawline.

3. Mini Facelift

A mini facelift is a less invasive cosmetic procedure that targets early signs of ageing, such as mild sagging around the cheeks and jawline. The procedure involves small incisions, typically made around the ears and in the hairline, allowing the surgeon to lift and tighten the underlying tissues.

4. Mid-Facelift

A mid-facelift rejuvenates the central region of the face, addressing concerns such as sagging cheeks and deep nasolabial folds. Lifting and tightening the underlying tissues restores a youthful contour to the face and enhances facial harmony.

5. S-Lift

The S-Lift is a minimally invasive facelift technique that targets the lower face and jawline. The surgeon creates an S-shaped incision, which starts at your hairline at the temple area. From the temple, the incision runs behind and in front of the ear so the cosmetic surgeon can reposition the tissues underneath. It is ideal for addressing early signs of ageing.

S-Lift

Non-Surgical Facelift

Our skin loses collagen as we age, resulting in decreased elasticity and increased sagging. Some people experience early signs of ageing due to their lifestyle habits. Years ago, people would have to undergo surgical treatments to address certain issues. Luckily, with today’s technologies and effective treatment methods, facial treatments like facelifts can be done non-surgically.

Non-invasive and non-surgical facelifts in Singapore include treatments and procedures that aim to reduce the visible signs of ageing. Achieving that rejuvenated skin without going under the knife is made possible through various treatments of a non-invasive facelift in Singapore. Many people choose non-surgical procedures as they are done fairly quickly, have little to no downtime, and offer results that are on par with those of surgical procedures.

Thread Lift

Thread lift is a minimally invasive treatment suitable for patients who cannot or choose not to undergo surgical procedures. Biodegradable polymers from the threads are used in this treatment. These threads are inserted into your skin and will dissolve 6 to 24 months after the procedure.

Laser Skin Resurfacing

Lasers nowadays can do so much that they can go from burning fat cells to treating pigmentations. It is also one of the go-to facelift treatments in Singapore. Laser skin resurfacing helps you achieve brighter and younger-looking skin. It reduces the visibility of scars and fine lines, boosting collagen production and tightening the skin.

Radiofrequency Microneedling

Sozo Clinic’s INFINI uses two effective facial rejuvenation methods: microneedling and radiofrequency. This device delivers radiofrequency energy deep into the skin with the help of insulated gold micro-needles. The process helps trigger the production of elastin and collagen – which then improves the skin texture and reduces the depth of scars. It also improves wrinkles and tightens sagging skin.

Ultherapy

Ultherapy is a non-invasive lifting treatment used by aesthetic clinics in Singapore. It works by tightening and lifting sagging skin in different parts of the body. This facial treatment delivers ultrasound energy that stimulates the foundational tissues to help tighten early skin laxity. Ultherapy works best for younger patients and patients not keen to undergo surgery. Ultherapy treatment starts at $3000 per session (prices are subject to change without prior notice).

HIFU

HIFU (High Intensity Focused Ultrasound) therapy is a non-invasive skin treatment that offers facelifting results that could last up to 2 years. The ultrasound energy delivered in the skin penetrates deep into the dermis and triggers collagen and elastin production.

Thermage

Thermage is a radiofrequency treatment that aims to smooth and improve the appearance of the skin. Fine lines and wrinkles are the common skin issues that Thermage can treat. This treatment encourages new collagen production, making facial skin tighter and more elastic.

Dermal Filler

Facial fillers are substances injected in facial areas that are losing volume. Fillers like hyaluronic acid and poly-L-lactic acid are injected into these areas to reduce wrinkles and fine lines. They can also plump up and lift the cheeks and jawline.

One of the common fillers is hyaluronic acid, which stimulates the skin’s collagen production. However, temporary swelling and redness can occur after the procedure. This non-surgical facelift treatment from Singapore costs $800 per syringe.

Typically, 1 to 4 syringes are needed per treatment session, depending on the severity of volume loss. Hyaluronic acid fillers typically last for 9 to 12 months.

Botox

Botox is one of the common non-invasive cosmetic procedures in Singapore. This product’s main ingredient is botulinum toxin, which is injected to temporarily paralyse the muscles, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It may take 1 to 3 days for the Botox to take effect, but its results last 3–6 months. Botox is priced in two ways: $12-$15 per unit or $300-$800 per treatment zone.

Light-Emitting Diode (LED) Therapy

Target Areas for Facelift Procedures

Both surgical and non-surgical methods target different areas depending on individual concerns.

Face

Surgical and non-surgical facelift procedures enhance cheek contour and jawline definition by addressing sagging skin and repositioning underlying tissues. These cosmetic procedures achieve dramatic results by lifting and tightening the skin. Non-surgical options, such as dermal fillers or thread lifts, stimulate collagen production or add volume, creating a sculpted, defined appearance.

Neck

Procedures targeting loose neck skin or a double chin are designed to restore firmness and definition to the area. Surgical options remove excess skin and fat while tightening underlying muscles.

For less invasive solutions, treatments like liposuction or injectable fat-dissolving agents effectively reduce a double chin, while energy-based therapies, such as ultrasound or radiofrequency, stimulate collagen production to tighten and tone the skin.

Forehead and Brow

Facelifts can help address forehead wrinkles and droopy brows by tightening underlying tissues and removing excess skin.

Who is a Suitable Candidate for a Facelift?

Who is a Suitable Candidate for a Facelift?

Facelifts are suitable for individuals aged 40–70 with moderate to significant signs of ageing, such as loose skin, wrinkles or jowls. Non-smokers with good general health are ideal candidates. Realistic expectations about results are also essential, as it’s important to understand this isn’t a permanent solution but one that significantly slows visible signs of ageing.

How to Prepare for a Facelift?

Preparing for a facelift involves careful planning and adherence to medical guidance to ensure the best possible outcome. Initially, you’ll have a comprehensive consultation with your medical/aesthetic practitioner to discuss your medical history, current medications and aesthetic goals. It’s crucial to disclose any underlying conditions or habits, such as smoking, as these can impact the healing process.

Your doctor will advise stopping certain medications or supplements, like blood thinners, as they can increase the risk of bleeding during the procedure. Maintaining a balanced diet, staying hydrated, and following prescribed skincare routines can also optimise your skin’s condition before facelift surgery.

Additionally, organising transportation and ensuring adequate post-procedure support will help you focus entirely on recovery. Preparedness significantly contributes to a smooth procedure and a successful recovery.

What to Expect During a Facelift Procedure

A traditional facelift involves making incisions to lift and reposition the skin, muscles and tissues. Non-surgical treatments vary based on the specific method, but most involve minimal discomfort and relatively quick recovery. Discuss all available options with your doctor/aesthetic practitioner to determine which method suits your needs.

Aftercare of Facelift

Whether surgical or non-surgical, post-treatment care is key for lasting results. Avoid smoking, stay hydrated and follow all aftercare instructions from your aesthetic practitioner. Protect your skin from UV exposure using a high-SPF sunscreen and use gentle skincare products to aid healing.

Risks and Safety Considerations of Facelift

Potential risks include swelling, bruising, or scarring for surgical treatments and temporary redness or mild peeling for non-surgical options. Ensure to consult a certified professional like Sozo Clinic’s Dr Justin Boey to reduce risks.

Is a facelift painful?

The level of discomfort varies depending on the type of facelift. Surgical facelifts may involve some post-procedure pain, which can be managed with prescribed medication. Non-surgical options are generally minimally painful, with most patients experiencing only mild discomfort or temporary sensations such as redness or tightness.

Conclusion

Face and neck rejuvenation procedures can significantly improve physical appearance, boost confidence, and slow visible ageing. Facelift options cater to varying needs and preferences, making anyone look as youthful on the outside as they feel on the inside. Whether surgical or non-surgical, these procedures can help provide long-lasting satisfaction. Consult a certified professional to determine the best treatment for you.
